That old adage "You get what you pay for" has never been more true now that the Internet has opened up access to editorial services on a global scale. Thankfully, most people understand the difference between good value and cheap. I offer a quality, personal service from a professional with over a decade of editorial experience both in-house and freelance. Please contact me to discuss your budgetary needs – I am open to tailoring rates to suit all budgets in order to deliver the end product that you want. I will always assess a text or project prior to quoting to ensure fair pricing and value for money.
For editing rates, as a rough guide, a heavy edit of complex text – including rewriting wordy or awkward phrasing – can be done at a rate of around 800 words per hour (or 2,000 words per hour for proofing complex text). At the other end of the scale, editing can be as fast as 1,800 words per hour for a light edit of simple text in good order (maximum 4,000 words per hour for proofing simple text).
French to English translation rates (quoted per word unless otherwise arranged) are based on the capacity to translate 2,000 to 3,000 words per day or 250 to 400 words per hour, depending on the text and subject matter. Localization of text is quicker and on a par with proofreading rates.
