As an accomplished, expert editor, I offer top-level copy-editing of your text to ensure the copy flows and reads well, suits the purpose and target audience and has no potential legal issues or factual, grammatical, spelling or formatting errors.
In contrast to proofing, professional editing takes more time and encompasses a broader range of skills. This includes making sure that your ideas are expressed in the way that you want them and that the text as a whole is representative of your business or target audience and is consistent throughout. During the editing stage, subjective as well as objective errors are identified for correction.
“Zoë edited a number of non-fiction books for me. Regardless of the subject matter, she was always interested, detailed, and thorough. She gave great comments and feedback, and always delivered on time.”
(Matthew Falcus, director, Destinworld Publishing)
Depending on the nature of your text and your preference, the editing can take place in Word using track changes, in Excel or in Adobe Acrobat using the comments tool. Alternatively, hard copy can be marked up. If you have another format you’d like to work in, I’d be happy to discuss this with you – I’m familiar with multiple content management systems.
As with proofing, a style guide will be adhered to. If you don't have one then I will create a custom guide while I work on your text.
I will help you achieve clarity and perfection with accurate, meticulous proofing of any text to ensure it's error-free, containing no typos or other objective errors. During a proofreading check, spelling, grammatical and formatting errors will be identified and marked for correction, and potential factual errors will be queried. Professional proofing can be done to the client's style guide or to a style guide customized or created by Syntax Supremo. As with editing, the proofreading can take place on screen or off screen – whatever suits the client and text best.
