Academic Editing of Theses and Dissertations
You invest a lot of time researching and writing your dissertation or thesis so it's important that it is grammatically correct and reads well, with a consistent voice and style. If you're concentrating on the content, it's easy to miss errors in the text. Having the text edited and proofed will give your work a professional appearance and ensure that your ideas are communicated effectively.
I edit and proof academic theses, dissertations and essays on a wide range of topics, particularly social sciences (including archaeology, anthropology, economics, law, linguistics, psychology and sociology). Having studied linguistics to a high level, I'm an expert in this subject area. In addition, as a former editor on Encarta Encyclopedia, I have a broad knowledge base and have honed my research and fact-checking skills in my job as an editor over the last decade, working on a wide range of subjects.
"I'd like to thank you warmly for your quick correction, for your always friendly and welcoming emails and - most importantly - your professional and detailed editing. You highlighted some passages that could have been criticised - thank you very much for that! I've also learnt a lot about English in general and about writing conventions I've never heard or read before. I really appreciated working with you!"
(PhD student at University of Passau)
During the edit of your thesis or dissertation, I'll be in touch via email or Skype if you have any queries and to discuss any comments that I may have regarding your text. In addition, I can format your text so that it meets standard academic style. Following the edit, proofreading of the copy can also be performed, to eradicate any objective errors in spelling or formatting.
